If you are missing Christian fellowship - all are welcome at our Thursday Bible study / fellowship group meeting tomorrow and next Thursday - this week
at Paula Treu's house in Olgiata - 9.15 start - we are looking at the Gospel of John - why not give it a try - no previous knowledge of the bible necessary!
Or - why not go an join Sunday worship at one of the central Rome English language churches - Baptist, Methodist, All Saints Anglican all start at 10.30
and the Scottish church starts at 11am - not sure about the Catholic times - but you can find the phone numbers in English Yellow pages or do some internet

We are a local friendly and multinational group that meets to find out more about Christianity, to worship and to have fun. Our mission "Knowing and growing
in Jesus, following in His footsteps and putting His love into action." We don't have a building but meet in homes in the Olgiata and Bracciano areas.
We are an interdenominational group (with links to the local Anglican and Churches together in Rome meeting) and worship in English on alternate Sunday
mornings, meet for social events and have a Thursday morning fellowship and bible study group.

Foosteps starts it's 10 year!!

"Knowing and growing in Jesus, following in His footsteps and putting His love into action"

Dear Footsteppers,

We are about to start our 10th year of Footsteps if my maths serves me right........suggestions on ways to celebrate are welcome! Welcome back from holidays and hoping you are feeling refreshed and ready to get cracking again in everything you do.

Footsteps North will be kicking off with worship on 12th September at 10.30 at Judith and Paul's house up near Bracciano.

- this means that you have a whole week back at school (the St George's ones anyway) to seek out and invite new families - or old ones that haven't been along yet....I attach a welcome card designed by Helen Creswell a while back that gives contacts and info on who we are, if anyone wants something on paper - I am very happy for you to give my number / E-mail to anyone who wants more info.

On the 12th we will have time to have a chat about where and when we meet and how we worship so do come ready to say what's best for your family and to think about what might encourage others. If you could be thinking about how you might be able to do something to help with the organisation or worship at Footsteps - however small - I would love to hear from you... we have been called to be God's people in this particular community and each of us is part of that.

And the day-time fellowship / bible study group will be restarting soon - those involved and those who might like to join in, please let me know if Thursday mornings are still the best time - this is also worth mentioning to new and old friends who may not want to come on a Sunday but could commit to a couples of hours once a week...

So, looking forward to hearing from you and to seeing you on 12th at Judith's - [we'll probably have our next worship the following week (19th) - offers of a venue gratefully received.]

With love,

Mary

Shoe Box Appeal

CHURCHES TOGETHER IN ROME - Shoebox Appeal

Gifts for Refugees

Here is an alternative gift idea that involves the whole family. It is based on an idea that has been very popular in schools around the world for many years, that of providing a container full of appropriate gifts for people in need. It doesn't cost a lot of money, it's fun to do, you can start straight away (!) and it encourages all the family to think about what it means to be poor and alone,

especially at a time when so many people are enjoying festivities with families and friends..

What are we asking you to do?

We are asking each family to make up a bag of gifts for the poor. It's an idea you can share, with your friends, in your places of work, in your schools. It's something everyone can do, young or old.

Who will receive the bags?

They will be given to refugees who come to the Joel Nafuma Refugee Centre. The majority are young men in their early twenties, and we are expecting around 250. (So if you can do more than one bag, we will be grateful!)

Here's how it works…

• Start by accepting a bag provided by Churches Together in Rome.

• Have fun choosing from our list of ideas. Most of it can simply be added to your trolley in

  the supermarket…

• Be selective – you don't need to include everything listed to create a wonderful gift.

• All items should be new, there should be at least one item from each list, Hygiene,

Clothing and Miscellaneous. Feel free to be creative, but please don't include expensive items. The Refugee centre has received a huge amount of toiletries so advise against soap, toothpaste etc.

•Do not seal bags, just secure with a few paper clips.

Gift List

Hygiene:                                            Clothing:                               Miscellaneous:

• Toothbrush                                                  • Socks                                               • Chewing gum

• Razor                                                           • Gloves                                  • Chocolate bar

• Paper handkerchiefs                                    • Hat                                       • Playing cards

• Comb                                               • Scarf                                    • Notebook and pen

• Lipsalve                                           • Underpants

Please give with a grateful and generous heart.

All Saints Rocking

All Saints' new initiative - KIDS ROCK -
reaching out to young people kicks off this weekend. It starts at midday
( so teens can still get their lie-ins) and will be every second and
fourth Sunday of each month.
You'll see that the theme up to Christmas is "The Hidden Lives of
Saints" , ancient and modern ones! There'll be lots of chances to use
acting, singing , dancing and computer skills too....

Marc has agreed to do the music for two of the upcoming sessions and an
Italian pianist Giovanni has agreed to do two more, while the Nov 8th
one will include a baptism of an older and a younger kid.

I was trying to think of a suitable bible verse to put at the end of
this message, but instead the Nike slogan  "JUST DO IT" keeps coming to
mind!!

Love Helen
